A Quest(ion) for Balance

I make no apology for my current condition and how it has effectively made me who I am today. Un like what I was , so many years ago when age, illness and other circumstances now interfere with my ability to work and do so many other things. My only real regret has been ti have run of time to be able to do the things I use to enjoy, like being to get up in the morning and walk wherever I may like or to do whatever I like. Physically and economically I have been severely limited, as a consequence of diabetes and it’s accompanying complications. But even with these limiting factors I continue to live and to strive for my self betterment, only more deeply aware of what I have to do to and to reshape the vision of how life ought to be. I also realize that my self betterment is more in tune with egalitarian objectives, in that however I can improve my self, others around are also improved and thereby humanity advances., in proportion to my own self realization and transition.

I can assist in the facilitation of change and growth, through my own change and growth, so long as I remain open to the positive and not allow the negative dominate my life. In the bigger scheme of things, I am but one very minute microcosm of the whole, but powerful enough nonetheless to affect the whole. Being humble and ‘selfless’ is part of becoming this agent of change, through realization of who you are in relation to the the whole. The universal is a one over soul and you are small reflection this over soul with trillions of others through time and space. But think for a moment how much greater you really are when considered that you are loved as all others are so loved, that you are no less important as are all the others, and that you are equally an agent of change. So can you see? What can you see?

Our community in Oakalnd Ca has gone through real changes, just as Our nation is undergoing change through the Administration of President Barack Obama. We have expanded to include a downstair apartment to have more room for the community and for our homeless guestts. One of our coommunity members died and we are now being chartered by Universal Ministries and have become an affiliated congregation of the Universal Life Church. Soon afterwards we will become a non-profit religious organization accepting tax deductible donations and seeking Foundation and corporate support. Write back to me if you would like to help us fight for hiuman rights and to provide assistence to homeless people here in Oakland and Berkeley, as well as our work for peace and non-violence.

Blessings to all of you.

Feb 22 2009

February 22, 2009
Last friday, we buried our very missed companion and room mate. It was a very moving and upbeat good bye to our friend. John, her soul mate really crumbled though, and literally collapsed onto the ground. If you were to know Vicki, you wuld come to understand the effect she has had on this community and to all her friends outside of the community.

I had known her first at a Job service program for homeless people. As she was the first person to greet you when you signed in. She was alaways understanding and straightforward, having a smile on her face most all of the time. Many di not this side of her. She has known homelessness and it's injustice from the perspective of being homelees and of serving them. She knew how important it was to find ways to make them feel wanted and to help by means of empowerment and not just charity.

We said our good bye Friday afternoon, but we also know her spirit will remain in this household. Rest in Peace Vicki.

I will be getting together with some friends later on, to jam together and to make music. I believe that now I am retired, have to keep myself busy in many differnet ways. And I have always enjoyed music, and in my earlier days in High School and College, I use to enjoy composing, experimenting and performing. If we ae good enough we may create some mixes and make our own cd's and share the music on LastFM. Proceeds if any any will go to support my ministry.

Well again I would like to remind my readers that a trust fund in memory of Vicki is being created, and in the future I will keep you posted on the way it evolves. Enough for now.

Message To America, October 21, 1946 Mahatma Gandhi

[Preston Grover of the Associated Press of America asked Gandhiji, during an interview in New Delhi, if he had any message for America.]

Dislodge the money God called Mammon from the throne and find a corner for poor God. I think America has a very big future but in spite of what is said to the contrary, it has a dismal future if it swears by Mammon. Mammon has never been known to be a friend of any of us to the last. He is always a false friend.

In memory of Vicki Holden

One of the main ministries I have been participating with has been advocacy and hospitality work for the homeless. I have been activelu involved with this work fo 30 years.

Most recently, in the last three years a community house which also offers hospitality to a very limited number of homeless people has emerged and grown. It was started by a formerly homeless man, who lived in Berkeley. His soul mate of the last three years passed away from struggling with a lengthy illness Sunday night.

I want to honor her by establishing a trust fund in her memory and from this trust fund, property will be purchased for the community. It will be called the Vicki Holden Memorial Hospitality House, to serve as the community house and provide services to a limited number of people. Currently we are a community of formerly homeless people who are disabled, but govern ourselves. Please contact me, if you would like to help us in any way

On Behalf of Leonard Peltier Defense Committee

URGENT! Leonard Peltier's Safety in Jeopardy!
Call Canaan Federal Prison
570-488-8000
Leonard's prisoner number is 89637-132.

Dear LP Supporters,

I am so OUTRAGED! My brother Leonard was severely beaten upon his arrival at the Canaan Federal Penitentiary. When he went into population after his transfer, some inmates assaulted him. The severity of his injuries is that he suffered numerous blows to his head and body, receiving a large bump on his head, possibly a concussion, and numerous bruises. Also, one of his fingers is swollen and discolored and he has pain in his chest and ribcage. There was blood everywhere from his injuries.

We feel that prison authorities at the prompting of the FBI orchestrated this attack and thus, we are greatly concerned about his safety. It may be that the attackers, whom Leonard did not even know, were offered reduced sentences for carrying out this heinous assault. Since Leonard is up for parole soon, this could be a conspiracy to discredit a model prisoner. He was placed in solitary confinement and only given one meal, this is generally done when you won't name your attackers; incidentally being only given one meal seriously jeopardizes his health because of his diabetes. Prison officials refuse to release any info to the family, but they need to hear from his supporters to protect his safety, as does President Obama. His attorneys are trying to get calls into him now.\

This attack on LP comes on the heels of the FBI's recent letter, prompting this attack by FBI supporters as an attempt to discredit LP as a model prisoner. Anyone who has been in the prison system knows well that if you refuse to name your attackers or file charges against them, then you lose your status as a victim and/or given points against your possible parole and labeled as a perpetrator. It is not uncommon, in fact is quite common for the government to use Indian against Indian and they still operate under the old adage "it takes an Indian to catch an Indian". In 1978, they made an attempt to assassinate him through another Indian man who was also at Marion prison with LP. But Standing Deer chose to reveal the plot to him instead of taking his life in exchange FOR A CHANCE AT FREEDOM. When Standing Deer was released in 2001, he joined the former Leonard Peltier Defense Committee as a board member. He also began to speak on Leonard's behalf until his murder six years ago today. Prior to his murder, Standing Deer confided with close friends and associates that the same man who visited him in Marion to assassinate Peltier, had came to Houston, TX and told him that he had better stay away from Peltier and anything to do with him.

We are aware that currently, the FBI is actively seeking support for his continued imprisonment of Leonard Peltier and also also seeking support from Native People. So please be aware, and keep Leonard in your prayers. The FBI is apparently afraid of the impact we are having. If they will set him up to blemish his record just before a parole hearing, what will they do when it looks like his freedom will become a reality? We need to make sure that nothing happens to him again!

Please write the President, send it priority or registered mail. Email to Change.gov or email President Obama. Call your congressional representatives and write letters, not email, to them. Do what you can to get the word out to insure that LP is receiving adequate medical attention for his injuries.

I am asking you, supporters of Leonard and advocates of justice at this time to help. I don't know what else to do. Please Help!

Thank you

Betty Peltier-Solano Executive Coordinator Leonard Peltier Defense Offense Committee

Update on Burma

Burma is of special interest to me. I support the efforts of human rights activists of the region, and encourage you to explore the various issues regarding Burma. Please visit www.freeburmarangers.org, for the most up to date information and reports on what is happening in Burma

KEY DEVELOPMENTS
• Central Karen State: Burma Army and DKBA troops continue to attack civilians and KNLA troops in central Karen State along the Thai border. Villagers now have fewer and fewer places to hide.
• Northern Karen State: Relief in the Face of Attacks. Over 200 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) fled Burma Army attacks in the area of Takawder village in Kyauk Kyi Township.
• Karenni State: In southern Karenni State the Burma Army is trying to terrorize the population into submission by attacking those in hiding, capturing and forcing villagers to act as guides and porters.

Highlites of oppression and terror:

Over 200 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) fled Burma Army attacks in the area of Takawder village in Kyauk Kyi Township, northern Karen State in late December 2008 and Early January 2009. Troops under Burma Army Military Operations Command (MOC) 1 launched attacks and patrols into the mountains of northern Kyauk Kyi Township in search of hiding villagers. Villagers in this area fled multiple times in 2008, beginning when the Burma Army launched major attacks into the villages of Takawder and Thaw Nge Der in April. Villagers were unable to return home as the Burma Army built new camps close to these villages. The Burma Army is now hunting those in hiding in an attempt to terrorize them and force them into areas under its control or into refugee camps. These photos show glimpses of life for those recently displaced and some of the relief that reaches them.

On 7 January, Burma Army troops laid six landmines between Bu Koh and Gay Loe villages in southern Karenni State. This tactic, an attempt to scare villagers into Burma Army control and cease all support for the Karenni resistance, was part of a coordinated action by LIBs 430, 428, 337 and IB 135 between 31 December, 2008, and 10 January, 2009. Just prior to this action, in early December, Burma Army soldiers from LIB 337 captured the pastor of Pa Hoe village and two boys from Ka Waw Soe village. They forced them to guide the soldiers during an attack and were later released. During these sweeps for displaced communities and resistance soldiers in January, the Burma Army also laid numerous landmines, and forced villagers to provide food for the troops. In one case, on 6 January, every family from Bu Koh village was forced to give 10 cans of rice to the Burma Army soldiers. The Burma Army remains active in this area.

The Free Burma Ranger’s (FBR) mission is to provide hope, help and love to internally displaced people inside Burma, regardless of ethnicity or religion. Using a network of indigenous field teams, FBR reports on human rights abuses, casualties and the humanitarian needs of people who are under the oppression of the Burma Army. FBR provides medical, spiritual and educational resources for IDP communities as they struggle to survive Burmese military attacks.

Music as ministry and service

I like to announce to my readers (whomever they may be) that I have acquired my doctorate of divinity and certificate4e in spiritual counseling. I believe that music is one of the most affective spiritual activities of humanity. Through music, we can achieve higher states of consciousness and spiritual awareness. Music can induce an integrated state of being, combined with meditation.

So perhaps music can be considered a pure form of ministry, and as a minister of spiritual humanism, I can say there is no greater tool than music to achieve these higher states of being. Through music I can be in communion with my God and the community I serve.

So if you want to have an alternative vision and life, then visit me at www.cyberbsolutions.net and follow the instructions to become a member. I will not be spamming you with a bunch of newsletter items or even provide you with a series of email messages. Instead, I am availing myself to help you seek your own answers for critical life questions. And you may even share answers which may help someone else. In all though I encourage you to seek within yourself answers to universal questions, rather than accept blindly 'canned' answers and if you want and feel it necessary to share with others, you can email me and share your visions and revelations. So rock and roll forever and keep the beat going.
